We all have our own prison, mine is my own body. Being fat is a big problem for many of us. I have had a weight problem all my adult life so I know what it feels like to constantly be reminded about my weight problem. We all have insecurities, and this is mine. My friends do not notice it and that's because I often hide my insecurities by putting on a facade. I have been called every fat name you can imagine and I often times think that the world can be a cruel place when you are overweight. I never considered myself attractive - and all the excess flabs did nothing but crush my ego. And the truth is, I think my friends and family are tired of hearing me say "I'm going to the gym tomorrow and lose weight" over and over again. I don't blame them. I know how to lose weight, but I just didn't do it. Why would they believe someone who said he wants to change but remains the same year after year? But it can come true. If only I could close the gap between knowing and doing and it will only happen if I make a conscious decision to change.
As of the moment, I'm this big, heavy, and miserable blob. Being fat is really my own fault and it is a bitter pill that I have to swallow. I've chosen to overeat and not exercise. And for that I have to start making myself responsible for my own actions (or lack thereof). You see, food is my comfort. And a lot of times, I am an emotional eater - boredom, stress, environmental forces at work cause this "I don't care" attitude toward overeating. I overeat because it's much easier to eat all the good stuff than it is to exercise and count calories. Oh gosh, exercising is just as frustrating. It's been a total struggle. No matter how hard I worked, how hard I tried, it would not come off. I don't know, maybe I've been doing it wrongly but, for sure, it is definitely the bane of my existence.
Being overweight is starting to take its toll already. My back and left knee hurt, my clothes don't fit anymore, and it's putting a strain on my dating life. This is definitely a wake up call. I can say that I now find myself in the right frame of mind to buckle down and lose all the EXTRA poundage ONCE AND FOR ALL!
After giving myself some tongue-lashing, I've decided to create this blog as a self-motivation tool. I am doing this so I can constantly remind myself of what needs to be done and keep doing it. I am returning to the gym tomorrow wearing a brand new attitude. I just can't wait to get my teeth into this weight-loss journey. I know it's not going to be easy, and it's definitely going to be a slow change. I'm going to have to figure out the emotions that contributed to this problem and face them head on. I'll do everything I can for MYSELF. I'm going to do this for my own HEALTH and HAPPINESS.
